Description

Wing half Davy Buchanan was born in Bellshill in Scotland in 1873 and began his career with Third Lanark in 1901. He also played for Bellshill Athletic in 1902 before heading south to join Southern League Brentford in 1903. He then spent the 1904-05 campaign with Middlesbrough without playing for their first eleven before moving to Plymouth Argyle in 1905, where he made 29 appearances scoring twice. The 1905-06 Argyle handbook states that he was “a clever inside-foward possessing complete knowledge of the game”. Despite playing fairly regularly for the first team he moved on at the end of the season, initially to Clapton Orient for whom he made 70 apprearances over the next two years, scoring twice, before ending his career with Southern League Leyton in 1908.
