Partick, Glasgow born wing half David Cameron had joined Scottish League amateur club Queen’s Park in 1914, making his debut against Airdrieonians in January 1915. He served with The Cameron Highlanders in the First World War. He scored 3 goals in 37 appearances for The Spiders, his last coming in May 1920 before he was signed by First Division Chelsea that summer, making his Football League debut at Derby County in August 1920.
In his five seasons at Chelsea he was never an automatic choice but managed 2 goals in 81 games for The Pensioners before he moved back to Scotland with Heart of Midlothian in October 1925, by now mainly playing at right back. But he made only 2 appearances for Hearts before joining Portsmouth in November 1926. His brief spell at Portsmouth didn’t work out and he returned to Hearts in July 1927, appearing twice more for The Jambos, and then moved on to Dunfermline Athletic in October 1927, whereafter Nottingham Forest signed him in July 1928. He played 21 matches for Forest scoring once over the next two seasons before joining non league Colwyn Bay in July 1930 where he subsequently finished his career.
