Left half James Cameron was a corporal in The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders during the First World War, and played for Third Lanark and Inverness Clacnacuddin as well as Mitcham Athletic.
After the conflict he joined First Division club Heart of Midlothian in March 1920, making his Scottish League debut at Clydebank the same month. He made 60 appearances for The Jambos, playing his final match in April 1923 before leaving the club.
He signed for Third Division (South) club Queens Park Rangers in July 1923 before emigrating to The United States to play in the nascent American Soccer League, where he played for Indiana Flooring, New York Nationals and New York Giants before retiring.
