Description
Sam Cooper was Middlesbrough’s goalkeeper during their amateur days of the 1890’s and won the FA Amateur Cup with them in 1895, when they beat Old Carthusians 2-1 at Headingley, Leeds.
NB it is possible he was in goal three years later as Middlesbrough again won the FA Amateur Cup beating Uxbridge 2-1 at The Crystal Palace.
