Born in Camelon, Falkirk wing half David Corbett played junior football for Old Plean Amateurs in 1928, and Linlithgow Rose in 1928, before signing for Heart of Midlothian later in 1929, but he didn’t make their first eleven and joined Camelon Juniors in 1930, from where he joined Scottish League Ayr United in 1932, moving to Dundee United in the 1933 close season, and playing 83 games, scoring 8 goals for United before moving south in October 1936 to join Second Division West Ham United. He made his Football League debut at Norwich City the same month but only played 4 games for The Hammers that autumn before losing his place in the side. He joined Southport but only played once for them against Hartlepools in September 1938, before playing wartime football for Dumbarton and St Mirren. He would later return to Dundee United for one B Division match in October 1945.
