Description

Locally born right half Joe Crozier began his football career with First Division hometown club Middlesbrough in 1910, making his Football League debut against Manchester United in March 1911 and he played 31 times for ‘Boro until a move to Bradford Park Avenue in October 1914. He played both sides of the First World War for Avenue, scoring 4 goals in 124 games before a move to Grimsby Town in August 1922, where he was described as “a clever, hustling player with good experience”. His season at Grimsby proved his last, he played 14 times amongst which he was sent off just before New Year against his old club, Bradford Park Avenue! Already aged nearly 34, he retired from the game at the end of the season, and in June 1924 went to coach football in Germany.
