Description

Newcastle born winger Charlie Danskin had played non league football in the North East, most notably at Ashington, prior to joining Sunderland in 1913 as a 20 year old. He didn’t however make their first eleven and after the First World War had intervened he was again playing local football when Second Division club Stockport County signed him in 1920 from Scotswood.

He made his Football League debut at Grimsby Town in August 1920 and played 40 league matches that season, however in December 1920 he lost his place and the following summer moved to Aberdare Athletic after 6 goals in 57 games for County. His two seasons at Aberdare saw him score 5 goals in 80 matches and he then joined Luton Town in the summer of 1923. However he only made 11 appearances for Luton the following season before heading back to Wales to play non league football for Dragon (Pontypridd), his last known club before his eventual retirement.
