Description

Cramlington, Northumberland born inside or outside right Tommy Dixon began his football career with Bedlington Star and played for Netherton in 1905, and Bedlington United in 1906 before being signed by First Division club Middlesbrough in January 1907, making his Football League debut against Manchester City that November, scoring in a 2-0 win. A fringe player during his four seasons at Ayresome Park, he scored 9 goals in 29 appearances before joining Southern League club Watford in the 1911 close season.

He was a regular during his two seasons at Cassio Road and he finished as the club’s top scorer each season, scoring 21 goals in 72 appearances before a move to Bristol Rovers in the summer of 1913. He had only a single season at Eastville, scoring 3 goals in 17 appearances for The Pirates before a return to north east non league football where he played for both Blyth Spartans and once again Bedlington United in 1914 before the onset of the First World War effectively ended his career.
