Description

Johnstone, Renfrewshire born full back Hugh Dunn played for hometown club Johnstone in 1892 before moving south to join Preston North End in 1894, for whom he made his Football League debut against West Bromwich Albion in March 1894. He played in the Test Match that April to retain Preston’s top flight status, and played another seven seasons for Preston until they suffered relegation in 1901. He never scored in 181 appearances for the Deepdale club. He then joined Southern League Bristol Rovers in the 1901 close season, the highlight of which was being a part of their 1904-05 Southern League Championship winning team. In 1906 he returned to the Football League with Burslem Port Vale, playing 31 times before retiring at the end of the 1906-07 season.
