Description
This photograph is almost certainly from the England v Scotland match at Villa Park on 3rd May 1902, played as a replay after the Ibrox Disaster forced the abandonment of the match in Glasgow the previous month. While the players are hard to identify, the England goalkeeper is Billy George and the England player marking the Scotland player on the edge of the 6 yard box appears to be Bob Crompton. The England player with moustache behind Crompton, running on the edge of the box, could well be Kelly Houlker. The Scotland player standing to the right of the referee inside the 6 yard box could well be Alex Raisbeck.
The match ended as a 2-2 draw, with Bobby Templeton and Ronald Orr scoring first half goals for Scotland, cancelled out by goals from Jimmy Settle and Albert Wilkes for England in the second half. The teams were:
