Hodthorpe, Derbyshire born right winger Jackie Fisher started his football career with junior club Brodsworth Main Colliery in 1919, and played for Highfields United before joining Third Division Chesterfield in 1921, making his Football League debut that October against Crewe Alexandra. After only 19 appearances, and 5 goals, First Division defending Champions Burnley stepped in, paying £1,000 for his signature in March 1922, and he played 10 games on the run in as they finished in third place in the League Championship, but just over a year later he returned to Saltergate in April 1923 in exchange for George Beel after 3 goals in 33 appearances for The Clarets.
Back at Chesterfield he was a key player in a series of campaigns which fell short of promotion, but joined Midland League Mansfield Town in June 1927 after a further 27 goals in 165 appearances. After a year at Mansfield he joined Staveley Town in June 1928, but returned to Football League action with Lincoln City in October 1928, scoring 3 times in 19 appearances before joining non league Denaby United in August 1930, subsequently playing for Hurst in September 1931 and for Sutton Town before his eventual retirement.
