Description

Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire born centre half Archie Gomm started his football career with Spartan League club Chesham United in 1919 and also played for Wycombe Wanderers before joining Southern League Reading, but at the end of the 1919-20 season he moved to new Football League entrant Millwall, making his Football League debut in the final fixture of their inaugural League season against his former club Reading in May 1921.

But it wasn’t until 1923 that he became a regular in the Millwall side, being an ever present in 1923-24 but spending most of 1927-28 injured, when he played only 3 games in Millwall’s Third Division (South) Championship season. He made his last Millwall appearance of 204 in September 1930, scoring 14 goals, and joined Third Division (North) club Carlisle United in the close season of 1931. He enjoyed two full seasons at Brunton Park, making 71 appearances, before joining non league Lancaster Town in 1933 before his eventual retirement.
