Plumstead born wing half George Grant joined Arsenal from Dartford Invicta in 1911, making his First Division debut at Aston Villa that September. It would be his only outing that season but over the next 3 seasons he became an increasingly regular feature in their first eleven, playing 13 times as Arsenal were relegated in 1913 for the only time in their history, and making 30 appearances in 1914-15 before World War One intervened. He scored 4 goals in 57 appearances for Arsenal, but on the resumption of peacetime football he spent a season with Millwall in The Southern League before joining newly elected Division 3 (South) club Queens Park Rangers in 1920, being an ever present in their inaugural Football League season. By the time he joined non league Northfleet in 1922 he had scored once in 72 appearances at Loftus Road.
