Description

Church Gresley, Derbyshire born outside left George “Jud” Harrison joined Leicester Fosse from Gresley Rovers in 1910 and made his Football League debut against Leeds City in April 1911. After 9 goals in 60 games a big money move followed to Everton in April 1913, signing for The Toffees along with Bob Thomson, and he was a member of their 1914-15 League Championship winning team and also played in their losing FA Cup semi final eleven the same season.

His career was interrupted by the First World War, during which he joined the Army serving with The Scots Guards, and he was gassed in the fighting, but he recovered and resumed with Everton in 1919. In May 1921 he won his first of two England caps on a summer tour, playing in a 2-0 win against Belgium in Brussels, and he won his second cap in a 1-1 draw with Ireland at Windsor Park that October.

He continued to play for Everton before losing his place in 1923 and being transferred to Preston North End that November. In his second season they were relegated from the First Division but he continued to be a regular for a further six seasons before being given a free transfer at the end of the 1930-31 season after 72 goals in 284 games at Deepdale. He joined Blackpool in November 1931, already aged 39, and played a single season for The Seasiders scoring twice in 18 games before his retirement in 1932.
