After 2 League seasons at Fratton Park he joined Swansea Town in May 1922, being ever present in 1922-23 but playing only 3 further games the following season, before joining Aberdare Athletic in May 1924 after 3 goals in 47 games, in addition to his 117 appearances in Southern League and FA Cup either side of the First World War before Pompey joined The Football League. His 3 seasons at Aberdare saw him score 9 goals in 109 matches, and in October 1927 he moved to Barrow, but only played 4 matches for The Cumbrians before retirement from the professional game, already aged 36.
