Description

Warsop, Nottinghamshire born right back Jack Hayward played junior football for Warsop Main Byrons in 1921, before joining Shirebrook in 1922 and Welbeck Colliery in 1923. He spent 1924-25 as an amateur on the books of Bradford City without appearing for their first eleven, before joining Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic in the summer of 1925, making his Football League debut at Charlton Athletic that September.

He eventually fell out of favour at Bournemouth in 1932, having been a first team regular for seven seasons, and joined Crystal Palace in the summer of 1933 after 30 goals, of which 18 were penalties, in 278 appearances for The Cherries. He spent 1933-34 at Selhurst Park, scoring once in 20 appearances before retiring from football.
