Description

Edmonton, Middlesex born centre forward Harry Hodges began his football career with Sterling Athletic in 1920 and subsequently joined Second Division West Ham United. After they were promoted in 1923 he made his Football League debut at Arsenal that September, scoring The Irons’ only goal in a 4-1 defeat. He played once more for West Ham’s first eleven in a 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in February 1924 before leaving the club that summer to join Third Division (North) Lincoln City. He made 9 appearances for The Imps in 1924-25 without scoring between September and November 1924, and (probably through injury) that proved the end of his career.

NB in the photograph he stands on the left with West Ham team mate Billy Williams.
