Description

Doncaster born outside right Bill Horsman played for Selby Town in 1927 from where he joined First Division Birmingham, for whom he made his Football League debut at Bury in March 1929. Although he played in 25 League games and 2 of the Cup ties in the 1931 FA Cup run, he was not picked for the 1931 FA Cup Final which saw Birmingham lose to West Bromwich Albion.

He continued as mainly a fringe player before joining Chester in the 1935 close season after 3 goals in 84 appearances for The Blues. At Chester he helped them to runners-up spot in the Third Division (North) in 1935-36 and to the Final of the Welsh Cup in the same season, playing four seasons for The Seals before his career was prematurely ended by the outbreak of the Second World Warnin September 1939 after 44 goals in 180 appearances. After the War he played non league football for Chester Nomads.

NB in the image he appears with Birmingham team mates Johnny Crosbie, Jack Firth and Jackie Randle.
