Description

Ecclesall Bierlow, Yorkshire born outside left Duggie Humphrey joined junior club Girlington in 1919 after the end of the First World War, from where he signed for Second Division Bradford Park Avenue in September 1920, making his Football League debut against Leeds United that November, having a run of 7 games, scoring once, before the year end before losing his place. With Avenue relegated at the end of the season, Humphrey moved on to Stockport County in the 1922 close season, and once he got into the first eleven in October he was a regular through to the end of the season, scoring twice in 24 appearances. The following season however he lost his place and played only 8 further games for County before Christmas 1923 before transferring to Nelson in January 1924. He made 8 further appearances for Nelson before the season end but never appeared for their first eleven again, joining non league Selby Town in 1926.
