Logie, Dundee born wing half David Hutcheson began his football career with Dundee North End in 1912 and played for Dundee Stobswell in 1913, before joining Scottish League Dundee in 1914. He remained at Dens Park for 7 years before moving to England to join Second Division South Shields in the 1921 close season, making his Football League debut at Hull City that August and in due course becoming club captain after the transfer of Warney Cresswell to Sunderland in 1922. Hutcheson was a regular for five seasons before losing his place in 1926, but remained a further two seasons on Tyneside playing his last match of 199 appearances in January 1928, scoring four times.
NB in the photograph he tosses the coin with Fulham captain Jimmy Torrance at Craven Cottage on 25th August 1923, South Shields won the match 3-2.
