Gwersyllt, Wrexham born left back Jack Jenkins played for Mold Town in 1912, for Southern League club Mardy as well as Wrexham and Gwersyllt in 1913, and for Pontypridd in 1914 before the intervention of the First World War. After the conflict, he re-joined Mardy in 1919, and Pontypridd in 1920 before joining Third Division (South) club Brighton & Hove Albion in the 1922 close season, making his Football League debut against Norwich City in August, remaining ever present throughout 1922-23.
He was first selected for Wales when he played against Scotland as Wales won 2-0 at Ninian Park, Cardiff on 16th February 1924 and won 8 caps for his country, his last match came on 30th October 1926, also against Scotland at Ibrox. He continued to play for Brighton until Christmas of 1928, scoring 4 goals (all penalties) in 231 appearances for The Seagulls, before retiring from the professional game, joining non league Brighton Hotels in 1929.
