Barry born left half Billy Jennings joined First Division Bolton Wanderers from Barry Town in 1912, making his Football League debut against Derby County in October 1912. He won the first of his 11 Wales international caps against Scotland in February 1914, winning the last, also against Scotland, 14 years later in October 1928. His career was interrupted by the advent of the First World War in 1915, by when he’d made 39 appearances for Bolton, but he returned to Burnden Park after the conflict and was a regular fixture in the first eleven until 1928, making his last appearance in November 1929. His 14 season Bolton career saw him twice win the FA Cup, the first when he played in the FA Cup Final win over West Ham United in 1923 in the so called “White Horse” Final, also playing in 1926 when they beat Manchester City. He made 287 appearances and scored twice before retiring in 1930, only ever playing in the First Division. He later managed Cardiff City from April 1937 to April 1939.
This photograph was taken on 9th April 1927 when Wales played Ireland at Ninian Park, Cardiff.
