Gorbals, Glasgow born outside left George Jessiman began his football career with Arthurlie after the First World War, and joined Scottish First Division club Morton in the 1922 close season, scoring once in 30 appearances for the Scottish Cup holders during his single season at Cappielow Park in 1922-23. At the end of the season he re-joined Arthurlie, who were now competing in the Scottish Third Division, and he helped them to win the Third Division Championship in 1923-24.
Jessiman remained at Dunterlie Park for three further Second Division seasons, during which he was capped by Scotland in 1926 at amateur international level, scoring on his only international appearance, before joining First Division Clyde in 1927 after 61 goals in 130 appearances. He then stayed a further three seasons at Shawfield, scoring 11 goals in 86 appearances before again stepping down a level, first with Albion Rovers, for whom he scored 9 goals in 28 appearances during 1931-32, and finally with Alloa Athletic, for whom he appeared only once in 1932-33 before his eventual retirement.
