Description

Cardiff born full back Dai Jones played junior football with Ely United in 1928 and Ebbw Vale in 1929 before having unsuccessful trials at Millwall and Charlton Athletic, eventually joining Clapton Orient in August 1931 and making his Football League debut at Fulham in October 1931. He had 2 seasons in East London making 59 appearances before being signed by First Division Leicester City in May 1933. At Leicester he won the first of his 7 caps for Wales against Ireland that November in a 1-1 draw in Belfast, winning his last cap in March 1937, also against Ireland in a 4-1 win at Wrexham.

He played for Leicester both sides of the Second World War, and although they were relegated from the First Division in 1935, he was an ever present as they won the Second Division Championship in 1937. Having lost 6 years to the Second World War, he joined Mansfield Town in October 1947 after 4 goals in 241 appearances for The Foxes, and played 2 further seasons for The Stags, making 80 appearances, before joining non league Hinckley Athletic in 1949.
