Description

West Bromwich, Staffordshire born goalkeeper Harry Jones began his football career with Leamington in 1899 and from there joined Second Division club Walsall in 1900 but he didn’t play for the first eleven as The Saddlers lost their League status at the end of the season. Jones moved to Brierley Hill Alliance before spending 1902-03 on the books with West Bromwich Albion though again he didn’t make the first eleven and returned to Brierley Hill Alliance after a season at The Hawthorns. By the time he rejoined West Bromwich Albion in 1906 they had been relegated to the Second Division,

Jones was understudy to Jimmy Stringer and made his Football League debut against Burslem Port Vale on Boxing Day 1906, keeping the gloves for their match with Burnley three days later, both matches being won. At the end of the season he joined Shrewsbury Town, his last known club before his eventual retirement.
