Birmingham born right back Eleader “Eli” Juggins started his football career in junior football with Willenhall Swifts in 1897 and Darlaston in 1900 before joining First Division Wolverhampton Wanderers, for whom he made his Football League debut against Small Heath (Birmingham City) in October 1904. A fringe player at Molineux, he made only 22 appearances before joining Southern League Coventry City in 1907. He spent 7 seasons at Highfield Road, scoring 7 goals in 111 appearances before retiring from playing, before being appointed trainer in 1913. He left City shortly before the outbreak of the First World War to join Southampton. He then served with the Cheshire Regiment where he was wounded in action. He later rejoined Coventry City as ground superintendant.
