Description
Whiteinch, Glasgow born winger Walter “Wattie” Keay played in Scotland for Partick Thistle in 1891 before heading south to join Darlington in 1892. He signed for First Division Derby County a year later, making his Football League debut at Sheffield United in September 1893, scoring 7 goals in 29 appearances over the next 2 seasons before heading to the south coast to join Southern League Southampton in 1895. He was part of their team that won several Southern League Championships through the remaining period of the 1890’s.
