Description

Liverpool born outside left Frank Kelly began his football career at junior level playing for White Star Wanderers in 1901 before joining Combination club Chester in September 1902. He moved to Second Division club Barnsley in May 1903 and made his Football League debut against Woolwich Arsenal that October, scoring both goals on his debut in a 2-1 victory. But only one more goal followed in 10 further appearances during his single season at Oakwell and he was allowed to join Chesterfield Town in June 1904, where again his stay was limited to a single season, scoring once in 9 appearances for The Spireites.

He joined Southern League club Watford in May 1905, scoring twice in 24 appearances during the 1905-06 season. He then moved to Leyton, where he had two seasons, scoring 16 goals in 64 appearances, form that encouraged Watford to re-sign him in May 1908. He added 3 goals and 22 more appearances to his previous tally for The Hornets before moving back to the Football League with Stockport County in May 1909. He scored 11 goals in 49 appearances for The Hatters before joining Nelson in the 1911 close season, briefly joining Everton in March 1912 without making a first team appearance.
