At Everton he continued on the fringes of the first team, scoring 11 goals in 35 appearances over the next 3 seasons, before joining Middlesbrough in 1927. Although ‘Boro were relegated in his first season at Ayresome Park, he scored 5 goals in 15 appearances as they immediately returned to the First Division as Second Division Champions in 1928-29. However in the summer of 1929 he joined Reading, scoring 8 goals in 24 appearances in his single season at Elm Park. He then returned to Lancashire with Oldham Athletic in 1930, but made only 5 appearances for The Latics that winter.

He returned in 1933 and spent 1933-34 with First Division Blackburn Rovers scoring 8 goals in 29 appearances before returning to Racing Club de Paris in 1934, where he stayed until 1937.
