Barrhead, Renfrewshire born inside forward Joseph Kyle was a well known one club Scottish amateur footballer who made his debut Queen’s Park in March 1934 in a Scottish League fixture against Aberdeen. During the five years before the outbreak of the Second World War he played 178 times for Queen’s Park, scoring 65 goals. He continued playing for Queen’s Park until June 1943, and including wartime appearances he scored 119 goals in 291 appearances for The Spiders.
He represented Great Britain at the 1936 Summer Olympics, playing in a 2-0 win against China, and was capped by Scotland 11 times at amateur level between 1935 and 1939.
