Description

Bethnal Green, London born wing half David Levene played junior football for Hugonians in 1929 before joining Tottenham Hotspur’s nursery club Northfleet in 1930. From there he moved to Tottenham in 1932 and made his Football League debut in a Second Division match against Manchester United that September. After 7 appearances for Spurs in his debut season, in which they were promoted, he wasn’t selected again until January 1935, and played twice more the following month before joining Crystal Palace.

He had two seasons at Selhurst Park making 25 appearances for The Eagles before he joined the 1930’s exodus of players to the French League, signing for Olympique Lillois in 1937. He returned to England a year later joining Clapton Orient, but failed to make their first eleven and the outbreak of the Second World War brought an end to his career.
