Description

Smethwick, Staffordshire born wing half Arthur Lloyd began his football career in junior football with Smethwick St Mary’s in 1902, playing for Oldbury Broadwell in 1903 and Halesowen in 1904 before signing for First Division Wolverhampton Wanderers, making his Football League debut against Sheffield United in December 1905. He played 18 times during his debut season, however Wolves were relegated, and Lloyd spent two further seasons playing for them in the Second Division. Although a first team regular in the League, he wasn’t selected for any of their FA Cup ties as they went on to win the FA Cup in 1908, and that summer he was transferred to Southern League Brighton & Hove Albion after 3 goals in 80 appearances. He spent a single season at The Goldstone Ground making 10 appearances for The Seagulls before joining Barrow in 1909, where he saw out his senior career.
