Wednesbury, Staffordshire born left back Tommy Lloyd joined Walsall in August 1922 from junior football and made his Football League debut against Rochdale in February 1924, making 5 appearances before the season had finished. Released, he returned to non league football with Willenhall that summer, before a move to First Division Sunderland in February 1925.
He played twice during March 1926, both games at Roker Park, and then twice more the following season in January and February 1927, before joining Bradford Park Avenue in May 1927. He then spent the next 10 years as a regular at Park Avenue becoming a stalwart of the club, winning the Third Division (North) Championship in his first season in 1927-28, and playing the remainder of his senior career in the Second Division.
Between 1928-29 and 1933-34, Bradford only once finished outside of the top six, finishing third in their first season back in the Second Division. Lloyd was a near ever present in 1929-30 and 1931-32, playing his final match for The Avenue in March 1937. He scored 17 goals in 350 appearances for Bradford Park Avenue, before leaving to join non league Burton Town in 1937, ahead of his eventual retirement.
