Description

Bishop Auckland, County Durham born goalkeeper Tommy Lunn played for Midlands junior club Brownhills Albion in 1903 before joining First Division Wolverhampton Wanderers as understudy to Tom Baddeley. He made his Football League debut at Preston North End in November 1904 making 12 appearances during his debut season but only 5 more appearances in the following campaign, that ended in Wolves’ relegation. It was only in March 1907 that he became the principal glovesman for Wolves, and the following season he collected a winners medal in the 1908 FA Cup Final as Wolves beat Newcastle United 3-1 at The Crystal Palace.

In April 1910 he signed for First Division Tottenham Hotspur after 142 appearances for Wolves, and spent 3 seasons at White Hart Lane, losing his place to “Tiny” Joyce in the winter of 1912, and he joined Stockport County in the 1913 close season after 91 appearances for The Lilywhites. But he only made 2 appearances for The Hatters in September 1914 before the First World War effectively ended his career.
