Poplar, London born inside right and later left back Bertie Lutterloch began his football career with Tufnell Park and joined the professional ranks in France (as was popular in the 1930’s) with Lille in 1932, where he won the French Championship, from where he joined First Division club Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1934, making his Football League debut against West Bromwich Albion that October, one of a pair of matches he played in on successive weekends. The following February he joined Third Division (South) club Aldershot where he missed only three matches in their 1935-36 campaign, scoring 15 goals in 58 matches for The Shots before a transfer to Luton Town in the 1936 close season.
He played only twice as Luton won the Third Division (South) Championship in 1937, converting to left back in 1938, and by the time the Second World War broke out in September 1939 he had made 15 appearances for The Hatters, however the War effectively ended his career, although afterwards he played for Vauxhall Motors in 1945 before his eventual retirement.
