Description
Liverpool born centre half Harry Mainman started his senior football career with Everton in July 1895 and spent two seasons on the books at Goodison Park without making a first team appearance for The Toffees. In July 1897 he moved to Liverpool but had no more success the other side of Stanley Park, and left Anfield without making a first team appearance for the Reds to join Second Division Burton Swifts in July 1898. He made his Football League debut at Loughborough that September and was very much a key member of their team for the next two seasons, scoring 10 goals in 72 appearances before moving to Southern League Reading in 1900. After a season with The Royals he returned to Football League action with First Division Notts County, for whom he made 137 appearances over the next 6 seasons, without ever scoring, before retiring in 1907 (probably due to injury).
