Grangemouth, Stirlingshire born right half George Mason began his football career with Banknock Juniors from where he joined Scottish League St Mirren in September 1923. He scored once in 9 appearances for The Buddies over the next three seasons before joining Falkirk in May 1926. He moved from Falkirk to East Stirlingshire and from there to St Johnstone, where he became a fixture in the first eleven through much of the 1930’s.
Described as “a forcing half back, he is a strong tackler on the defensive and is always ready to take a crack at goal”, he was called up for the Scotland squad against Ireland at Celtic Park, Glasgow in September 1933 but was a non playing reserve, and never received a full Scottish cap.
