Edmonton, London born inside right Frank McCudden began his football career with Park Avondale prior to the First World War and played for Gnome Athletic in 1915. During the War he served in The Royal Field Artillery and played Army football, and after the cessation he joined Edmonton in 1919, from where he was signed by First Division club Tottenham Hotspur, spending 1921-22 at White Hart Lane without making a first team appearance. In 1922-23 he had a spell with Clapton Orient but returned to Tottenham, unable to make the first team at either club.
In the 1924 close season he joined Third Division (South) club Norwich City and made his Football League debut against Plymouth Argyle that August. He enjoyed two seasons at Carrow Road, scoring 14 goals in 41 matches before returning to Clapton Orient in 1926, however he again failed to make their first eleven and in 1927 joined Kent League club Grays Thurrock United for a season before finishing his career with Whitbreads in 1928, his last recorded club.
