Description

Crossford, Fife born centre forward Adam McCulloch began his football career with Scottish League club Third Lanark immediately after the Second World War and enjoyed a successful period with The Warriors before signing for Third Division (South) club Northampton Town in June 1949, making his Football League debut at Newport County that September, scoring twice in a 4-1 victory. A regular scorer for The Cobblers, he was sold to Shrewsbury Town in January 1952 after 41 goals in 99 matches, and although Shrewsbury were a struggling side he scored 18 goals in 53 matches for The Shrews over the next year. He joined Aldershot in February 1953 and enjoyed three seasons in Hampshire, scoring 34 goals in 83 matches for The Shots including a career best 21 goals in 1953-54 before he finished his career at Kent League club Ramsgate Athletic, joining them in 1955.

His son Andrew McCulloch played at centre forward for Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff City, Oxford United, Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday, Crystal Palace and Aldershot. He played a total of 475 games in all competitions for his seven league clubs, scoring 153 goals in a career which lasted from 1970 until 1985.
