Laurieston, Glasgow born full back Thomas McGregor joined Glasgow Celtic in September 1910 from Kilsyth Emmet making his Scottish League debut against Hamilton Academical in April 1911. Strong and swift McGregor was mostly deputy to the legendary Alec McNair and Joe Dodds but when he was called into the side he seldom delivered anything other than an excellent performance. His longest run in the Celtic team was in 1914-15 when he filled in for Peter Johnstone for spell at the start of the 1914-15 season. He managed to win a place in the Glasgow Charity Cup Final that season too which Celtic won 3-2 against Raith Rovers.
In February 1914 he was selected in the Scotland squad for the match with Wales at Celtic Park but was not selected for the final eleven being made reserve, and he never played an international for his country. He finally left Parkhead in May 1919 for Motherwell for the then large sum of £400 after making 80 League & Scottish Cup appearances for The Bhoys. McGregor went on to make 58 appearances for ‘Well over the next two seasons before joining Alloa Athletic in 1921 where he finished his career in 1923.
