The elder brother of Celtic legend Tommy McInally, Barrhead, Renfrewshire born centre half Arthur McInally played junior football for Barrhead Belmont, Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, St Mirren Juniors and Croydon Celtic before joining Glasgow Celtic in 1917, and made his Scottish League debut, and single appearance for The Bhoys in a 4-3 victory at Motherwell that December.
McInally had loan spells at Ayr United and Dumbarton Harp before joining St Mirren in August 1918. After a spell with Abercorn and then with Armadale in 1921 he joined Alloa Athletic in May 1922. He subsequently joined Clyde before returning for a second spell with Alloa, and finally played for St Bernard’s before retiring in 1925.
He was later a Scottish League referee and “match secretary” (ie manager) of well known Glasgow junior club St Anthony’s during the mid 1930’s.
