Description
Left half back James “Switcher” McLaughlan was a veteran of the first Ayr United team after the merger of Ayr and Ayr Parkhouse to form Ayr United in 1910. He was a highly popular half-back with a cannonball shot. Perhaps his nickname derived from having moved between the two previous clubs before their merger. He was still playing for Ayr United during the 1914-15 season and took penalties, Full biography to follow.
