Description

Cleator Moor, Cumberland born wing half (he played both sides) Bernard McLaverty had played for Cleater Moor and Leadgate Park before the First World War but after the War signed for Durham City in 1919, joining First Division club Derby County in the summer of 1920, for whom he made his Football League debut against Chelsea that August, playing 19 matches as Derby were relegated.

He played a further seven seasons for The Rams before joining Norwich City in January 1928 after a single goal against Tottenham in October 1926 in 117 Derby County appearances. His two seasons in East Anglia saw 4 goals in 56 appearances for The Canaries before he joined non league Heanor Town in 1932, and he later played for Offilers Brewery in 1933 before retiring.
