Description

Bucksburn, Aberdeenshire born left back Bill Menzies began his football career with Mugiemoss Juniors from where he was signed by Second Division club Leeds United in 1923, making his Football League debut at Oldham Athletic on Christmas Day 1923, helping Leeds win the Second Division Championship at the end of the season. He missed only two matches in their first season in the top flight and remained a first team regular for four more seasons. Although Leeds were relegated in 1927, they immediately returned to the top flight by finishing Second Division runners up in 1928.

Although Menzies missed only 4 matches in their 1928-29 campaign, he lost his place in September 1929 and played only 13 matches as Leeds were relegated once again in 1930. In the Second Division he played two thirds of their matches in 1931-32 as they were once again promoted as Second Division runners up. But he was not retained at the end of the season, moving to Goole Town after 2 goals in 258 matches for The Peacocks.
