Romford, Essex born outside left Les Miller began his football career with Barking Town and spent 1929-30 as an amateur on the books of Northampton Town, without making a first team appearance for The Cobblers. He returned to Barking Town before joining the mid-1930’s exodus of British players to the French League, where he played for Sochaux in 1935.

He was signed by Second Division Tottenham Hotspur in 1936 and scored on his Football League debut in a 5-1 victory over Chesterfield that November. He managed 13 goals in his debut season including 4 goals in a 5-1 win against Blackburn Rovers just before the year end, finishing second in Tottenham’s goalscoring list to Johnny Morrison. He had three seasons at White Hart Lane, scoring 26 goals in 65 appearances for Tottenham before a move to Chesterfield in the summer of 1939. However he made just two appearances for The Spireites before the outbreak of the Second World War, during which he played for Mansfield Town, finished his professional career.
