Mountain Ash, Glamorgan born outside right Morton “Monty” Morgan began his football career with Penrhiwceiber in 1931 before joining the books of Manchester United, spending 1932-33 at Old Trafford without making a first team appearance. He joined Second Division Swansea Town in the 1933 close season and made his Football League debut for them against Hull City that September, but managed only 3 appearances during the season and joined Torquay United the following summer.
At Torquay he was an ever present in 1934-35, scoring 15 goals, and he only missed a handful of goals in his following two seasons at Plainmoor, scoring 26 goals in 133 appearances, before he was brought to Plymouth Argyle in the 1937 close season by legendary manager Bob Jack. He played just 11 games on either flank, scoring twice for The Pilgrims, before moving on to Bristol City the following year, where he played just five more matches for The Robins during 1938-39, scoring twice in a Third Division Cup match against Cardiff City, before ending his football career with the onset of the Second World War.
