Galgate, Lancashire born inside right Joe Myerscough joined Lancaster Town in 1913 and played for them both sides of the First World War before joining First Division club Manchester United in May 1920. He made his Football League debut at Bolton Wanderers that September and scored two braces in home and away fixtures against Bradford Park Avenue that December, but was largely a fringe player during his three years at Old Trafford, scoring 8 goals in 34 appearances, before a move to Bradford Park Avenue, by now in the Third Division (North) after successive relegations, in October 1923.
At Park Avenue he was a mainstay of their attack, and during his four seasons in Bradford they finished as runners up in 1926 (when Myerscough scored 17 times), in third place, and twice in fifth. However Myerscough lost his place in November 1926 and re-joined non league Lancaster Town in 1927, spending the rest of his playing career in non league football. He joined Rossendale United in 1931 and played for Morecambe in 1932 and Fleetwood in 1933 before retirement.
