Rotherham, Yorkshire born left back Bill Ogley had played Army football during his service in the First World War, and after the War joined Swansea Town in 1919, playing in their 1919-20 Southern League campaign and also their inaugural Football League campaign in 1920. He made his Football League debut against Watford in September 1920, scoring the winner in a 2-1 win at Vetch Field. A single season at Loftus Road saw him score twice in 41 appearances, before a return to his native Yorkshire with non league Castleford Town in 1925. He subsequently played for Denaby United for five years from 1925 and finished his career with Denaby Welfare in 1930.
