Description

Hammersmith, London born right half Len Oliver began his football career with junior sidesĀ Alma Athletic in 1920 and Tufnell Park in 1921 from where he joined his local professional club, Fulham, then in the Second Division. He made his Football League debut in September 1924 at Derby County and instantly became a first team regular, missing only 6 games in his first 5 seasons at Craven Cottage.

Although Fulham were relegated in 1928, such were his performances that he was selected for England’s summer tour in May 1929, and he won an England cap when he played in the second game of the tour, a 5-1 win over Belgium in Brussels. He was also a non playing reserve when England played Scotland at Hampden Park in March 1931. He also went on the FA Tour to Canada in the summer of 1931.

Fulham gained promotion as Third Division (South) Champions in 1932, with Oliver missing just 3 games. He continued to be a regular until 1934, playing his last game of 434 in total in February 1935, scoring 3 goals in the process before his retirement.
