Barrow, Cumbria born outside right Dick Oxley joined Third Division (North) club Accrington Stanley in 1921 from Wallsend making his Football League debut at Rochdale that August in Accrington’s inaugural Football League fixture. After 3 goals in 33 appearances he moved to Southport in the summer of 1922 but played only 8 times for The Sandgrounders in 1922-23, moving to Third Division (South) club Queen’s Park Rangers the following summer. He made 18 appearances for Rangers in 1923-24 but they finished bottom and were forced to seek re-election, and Oxley was released.
